Richard's Diary......Willow Farm Shooting Ground

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting Willow Farm Shooting Ground in Tenterden, Kent to meet with the owner Trevor Frith and his partner Karen.

The Ground has just become a CPSA Affiliated Club Member and hopefully during 2015 will look to put on some CPSA Registered Sporting competitions which will be great.

Within the boundaries of the shoot is Oxney Skeet Targets which is already a Registered Club holding registered Skeet competitions and NSSA Skeet competitions so it is a natural progression to continue the development of the Sporting Ground to be able to hold registered Sporting fixtures in due course.

Willow Farm was first established approximately 25 years ago and over the years has grown to now offer Sporting, Skeet, Compact Sporting & DTL layouts for shooters to enjoy.

The ground occupies a site of 29 acres and is open 6 days a week Tuesday to Sunday for practice and open Sporting and All Round competitions at the weekends.

During the week there is free tea and coffee and light snacks available to buy and the kitchen is open at the weekends for hot food which is a must particularly at this time of year!

Coaching is available at the Ground with a package for novices which includes 50 Clay targets, Cartridges, Shotgun hire and the services of a professional instructor at an all inclusive price of £50.00 (You do not require a shotgun certificate for this package).

Alternatively if you just want to experience clay shooting their 'Have a Go' package includes 10 Clay targets, Cartridges, Shotgun hire and a professional instructor for just £7.00.

Next year (2015) Willow Farm are taking part in the CPSA Kent & Sussex Clubman Classic League for C Class & Unclassified shooters so if you are reading this and shoot there please do speak to Trevor or Karen and sign up to join the Willow Farm team and take part in this enjoyable inter-Club League competition. For more info on the rules of the League don't hesitate to contact richard@cpsa.co.uk

Lastly thanks to Trevor & Karen for their time and for allowing me to use photo's from their website as the conditions on the day I visited the ground were wet & wild to say the least and wouldn't have given a fair reflection of the ground. For contact details and fixture dates please refer to their website www.willowfarmshootingground.co.uk
