Richard's Diary.............Fauxdegla Shooting Ground

I recently ventured up to Fauxdegla Shooting Ground in Llandegla, nr Wrexham, North Wales to meet with the Ground Manager Peter Rees as they were holding one of the CPSA Young Shots Days during October Half Term which is great.

Fauxdegla also held the British Open Sporting & Sportrap this year but I didn't manage to make it to the ground for that event so was looking forward to going as I had been told it really was a superb location.........and I was certainly not disappointed!

This really is a quite stunning location with the ground set in 50 acres of beautiful heather moorland with far reaching views and although the day of my visit was a bit cold and wet, hopefully the photo's below give you an idea of this extraordinary setting.

There has been shooting here since 1977, however Mike Faux took over the ground a few years ago and began a program of refurbishment which included the fantastic log cabin with its catering kitchen, log fire and ample seating.

The ground is open from Wednesday to Sunday including late nights on Wednesday (under floodlighting) and offers 12 Sporting Stands, 3 Skeet layouts, 6 DTL layouts, Compak Sporting, Universal Trench, Automatic Ball Trap & Double Rise. They can also put on a 100ft simulated flush if you wish to brush up on your game shooting or just have a go at something that'll take your breath away!

They are always available for practice and run CPSA registered competitions every weekend so either give the ground a call on 01978 790198 or visit their website www.fauxdeglashootingground.couk for more information.

Lastly, I'd just like to thank Peter for his time and hospitality and I look forward to getting up there again soon.
