This weeks tour took me to Fennes Shooting School nr Braintree in Essex where I had the pleasure of meeting Tracey Riddington who is the Manager at the School, an Instructor and an England Sporting shot to boot!
The Shooting School is situated on the impressive Fennes Estate which extends to about 100 acres and the well maintained level site allows shooting over the surrounding woodland and farmland.
They have a 14 stand Sporting Layout, 3 Compak Layouts and a combined Skeet & DTL layout along with an imposing 100ft tower to test those high birds.
The School is open 6 days a week from 9am to 6pm (or dusk) weekdays and from 9am to 1pm Saturday's so plenty of opportunities to get some practice in or book a lesson.Talking of lessons, these start from £50 for an Adult and only £30 for a Junior (under 18) which I think represents excellent value for money.
They also run an annual membership scheme which gets you the usual discounts at the desk and the various levels are as follow:
Adult Single £90
Joint Husband & Wife £110
Father & Son/Daughter £110
Junior (under 18) £60
Senior Citizen (over 65) £70
Fennes Shooting School are holding a CPSA sponsored Young Shots Day on Wednesday 31st October (Half Term Week) for 10 -16 year olds which includes approx. 5 hours of instruction time, 50 clays and cartridges, use of a Shotgun, lunch and refreshments all for just £40 so if you have a son or daughter who would be interested in taking part in this fabulous introduction to our sport then please contact the School directly to book their place as spaces are limited.
