‘The first stop on my whistle-stop tour of clubs around the
country landed at Northall Clay Pigeon Club in Fletching, East Sussex on the 7th
March. The weather was cold, wet & windy but the reception I rec’d from the
owners Jan & Dan Kerwood was very warm & welcoming and mug of tea in
hand we sat down in their busy clubhouse to chat about all things shooting.
Northall CPC is a busy CPSA Premier shooting ground with a
membership of approx. 100-150 and operates every Wednesday and every alternate
Friday and Saturday. They offer something for everyone with Sporting, Skeet,
DTL, ABT, Double Trap & Compac layouts aswell as an excellent kitchen and
even an on-site Gunsmith for servicing and repairs etc.
Every year the club promotes shooting in a positive way with
Have-a-go events at the Plumpton College Open day in May and the South of
England Autumn Show & Game Fair in October amongst others, so if you know
anyone who wants to try our fantastic sport then a trip to one of these events
could be the perfect introduction.
After lunch I enjoyed a 50 bird round of their English
Sporting layout with club regular Gary Coomber (centre in the photo) & club
Instructor Trevor Thompson (left in the photo) and feeling pleased with my
score of 43/50 we moved on to their Compac layout where the wheels well &
truly fell off……!! Oh well, never mind. Note to self: More Compac practice
required !!
Finally, I would like to thank all at Northall CPC for their
hospitality during my visit and would heartily recommend to anyone a trip to
this excellent club in the delightful East Sussex countryside.
Look out soon for news on my next stop.’
