Richard's Diary.....Prescott Shooting School

This week I've had the pleasure of visiting Prescott Shooting School in the beautiful Cotswolds just outside Winchcombe, near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Set within the grounds of Pinnock Wood Farm and occupying a lovely secluded Valley setting with far reaching views, the 10 stand Sporting layout offers an excellent variety of targets for the clay shooter and some fantastic driven clays for the game shots aswell as a Compak layout.

I met with the owner Daniel Martin who has competed at International level and is the principle Instructor at the school who told me that they offer a number of shooting tuition packages to suit both novice and experienced shots. The School is open for Practice and Lessons on Wednesdays & Saturday's currently although Daniel is hoping to extend this to 5 days a week from Tuesday to Saturday subject to achieving the necessary Planning consents. Membership costs just £80 per year and entitles you to 10% off everything in in the Clubhouse and a free 100 bird round of Sporting which is a real bonus!

Along with the Lessons etc, they hold Have A Go Days once a month which costs £25 for 25 Clays & Cartridges and includes Gun Hire and a Qualified Instructor to get you hitting those Clays quickly and safely. The next Have A Go Day is this Saturday 25th August and the following one is Saturday 29th September so fi you know someone who fancies giving clay shooting a try these are the ideal opportunities.
Aswell as Clay Shooting on site, they can also offer Simulated Game Days at various Sporting Estates in the Cotswolds which is an excellent way to experience game shooting but using Clays instead of game birds and you will get to shoot hundreds of cartridges at thousands of Clays throughout the day!

Other activities include Archery, Cross-Bows, Air Rifles and GNAT Shooting (shooting at radio controlled flying targets) so whatever your fancy contact Daniel on 07921 951477 or via e-mail on dan@prescottshooting.com and I'm sure he'll be very happy to help. The website is www.prescottshooting.com

Lastly, I'd like to thank Dan for taking the time to chat and show me around. I didn't have time to shoot the layout on this visit but I'll definately be back soon.

In the meantime, we are looking to expand the Clubman Classic League into the Gloucestershire & Oxfordshire region so if you shoot at Prescott Shooting School or any other ground for that matter then ask about getting involved and sign up for your Club's team!
