Last week saw my tour of grounds head to beautiful Somerset to see two of our member Clubs, the first of which was Brook Bank Shooting Ground in Cheddar, home of the famous Cheddar Gorge and Caves!
The weather was perfect which was great considering at the time of writing this it's pouring with rain again....
Brook Bank is a CPSA Premier Ground which has been run by Alison & Wesley Hann since 1982 and occupies a lovely level site overlooking the surrounding countryside and beyond.
Wesley has worked at the ground since he was a young lad and has seen many changes along the way including the various clubhouses upto the impressive Scaninavean style building where they operate now. They are open for practice Wednesday to Friday from 12pm to 6pm, Saturday from 11am to 5pm and Sunday from 10.30am to 3pm. Mondays & Tuedays are available for private hire/bookings.
The ground specialises in Skeet & Trap disciplines and has multiple layouts so that Skeet, DTL, ABT, OT etc can be practiced under covered layouts so the rain needn't interfere with your shooting!
There is also a 100 bird Sporting layout set over 14 stands which as a Sporting shooter I would have liked to have shot but time was limited on this visit so next time hopefully!
Wesley is also a qualified Gunsmith so if you need any alterations or repairs then look no further.
Brook Bank are holding a CPSA sponsored Young Shots Day on Saturday 27th October which is during October Half Term Week for 10 - 16 years old to come along and get a great introduction to Clay Pigeon Shooting or a refresher for more experienced youngsters and includes a days instruction, 50 clays and cartridges, gun hire, lunch and refreshments - all for £40 per person which is excellent value. So if you have a son or daughter (or both) who would like to take part then contact the Ground directly to book their place as spaces are limited.
Lastly, I'd like to thank Alison & Wesley for their time and hospitality and for more information please contact them on 01749 871055 or via info@brookbankshooting.co.uk or visit their website www.brookbankshooting.co.uk
