The second leg of my trip to sunny Somerset took me to Podimore Shooting Ground where I met with the owners Paul & Hazel Bennett and also had the chance to chat with a couple of their regulars who travel to the ground from Seaton in Devon every week to shoot there which says volumes about this friendly Club and the targets they put on there....There has been shooting at Podimore for 25 years and they have been running competition shoots since 1990. The ground is open every Wednesday and Saturday for practice and as a CPSA Registered ground holds Registered competitions on the first Sunday of the month.
They shoot mainly Sporting at Podimore which I'm sure you know by know is my favourite but they also have four Sporttrap layouts, a Skeet layout and a FITASC layout so plenty to keep you occupied.
Hazel took me on a tour of the ground and explained about their membership scheme which is a very reasonable £50 per year for an individual and £75 for a couple. This gets you a £2 discount on practice clays and a 5% discount on lessons and free tea and cofffee on Wednesday's!
They also offer group and corporate packages at Podimore where you can not only shoot clays but have a go at Archery, Air Rifles & Fly Fishing which is great.
I'd like to thank Paul & Hazel for their time and hospitality and next time I'm there I'll definately bring my gun and get a round of Sporting in.
